How to pay less
- Borrow less. Interest is charged on the balance; $300 costs 40% less than $500.
- Choose a shorter term. 3 months instead of 12 can halve the total interest.
- Pay early. Interest accrues daily; every early payment reduces it.
- Never miss a debit. One NSF can cost $50+ between lender and bank fees.
A tribal loan is one of the most expensive forms of credit available. If you have access to a credit-union loan, employer advance or payment plan, it will almost always cost less.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why are tribal loan APRs so high?
Because the loans are small, short, unsecured and made to borrowers with poor credit, the default rate is high. The APR reflects that risk plus the cost of underwriting a $500 loan, which is similar to underwriting a $5,000 loan.
Is the APR the same as the interest rate?
APR includes interest plus mandatory fees expressed as an annual rate. For tribal loans with no origination fee, APR and interest rate are effectively the same.
Does the APR change during the loan?
No. Loans in our network have a fixed APR and fixed payments.
